Class of 2011 Chicago Orr star Mycheal Henry of the Mac Irvin Fire has given a verbal commitment to play his college basketball for head coach Bruce Weber, and the University of Illinois. Henry rates as one of the top 2011 basketball prospects in the country.

Henry, who stands 6'6", is a versatile and athletic wing who has seen his recruiting stock explode over the course of the past year. Henry is a points and rebounds machine who gets buckets from all points of the floor. Henry is strong, has the ability to play physical, is highly athletic and has the ability to drill shots with three-point range.

Henry had a strong unofficial visit to the campus of the University of Illinois over the weekend, and after thinking about it decided that he would be playing his college basketball in Champaign.

University of Illinois assistant coach Jerrance Howard continues to prove himself to be one of the best recruiters in the country. Henry and Howard really bonded during the recruiting process, and Howard's efforts went a long way toward securing a verbal to Illinois from Henry.

Henry joins a 2011 recruiting Class for the University of Illinois that already includes Tracey Abrams (Chicago Mount Carmel) and Nnanna Egwu (Chicago St. Ignatius).

Henry, and the Mac Irvin Fire will be in action during the July Evaluation Period July 9-11 at the Nike Summer Slam Fest in Merrillville, Indiana.
